A new teacher

One of the mistakes I made as a new teacher was being unwilling to work in a team.

If I wanted to something done, it was easiest to do it myself.

I’d always be able to finish the task in the time it would take to explain it, check someone else’s work, give them feedback, check their work again etc.

But if I kept doing the work of a team then eventually that limits the size of the projects I can complete.

If I am better at leading a team (instead of doing the work of the team), then my team can take on bigger projects.

Next time (or right now), I build the team alongside the idea.

For example, I’m writing a book about maths (but I’m not that good at writing or that good at maths).

Instead, there are three of us (with different skills and two time zones) and we’re achieving more than if I tried to do it all myself.
